Quote follow-up
How to follow up after you send a quote
19 October 2026
Follow up after sending a quote while the next touch is already planned. A stack of templates will not do that. A rhythm will. The method below is the one Sallra is built to hold.
Plan the next touch when you send
The moment the quote goes out, choose the day you will come back. Not sometime next week, stored nowhere. A date, on that quote. If the buyer needs a longer cycle, the date can sit further out. What fails is having no date at all.
How to follow up on a quote starts there. The words come second. The timing is the part that gets skipped, and it is the part that decides whether the quote is still in the buyer’s week.
One next step
Each follow-up asks for one thing. A question they can answer. A time to talk. A name for who else needs to see the quote. Two asks in one note get neither. The buyer should be able to reply in a sentence.
If you do not know the one thing, you are not ready to send. Go back to the quote and pick the decision that is actually open.
The quote follow-up email
Keep it short. Name the quote. Name the decision you are waiting on. Say what you will do when they reply. Write it in the voice you already use with that customer. Read it once. Change what does not sound like you. Then send it yourself.
A draft can get you past the blank page. The lines that leave should still be yours. A quote follow-up email copied from a template, with the buyer’s name swapped in, is easy to ignore. A short note that refers to the conversation you already had is not.
Send it from the inbox they already know
Follow-up fails when it lives in a tool nobody opens. The note should leave from the mail the buyer already recognizes, in the thread where the quote was sent. For many teams that inbox is Outlook. The habit stays where the work already is.
You should not have to remember a second place to check before you can follow up on a quote.
When the date arrives and there is no reply
The next step is another planned touch. Same quote. A new moment. One clear ask. Quiet weeks pile up into quotes with no decision when each silence resets the plan to nothing.
Set the following date when you send this note, the same way you set the first one. The rhythm is the whole method: a date you can see, one next step, a draft you can change, and a send that stays with the seller.
